Blood Clots Remembered

Tuesday, August 29, 2023

August 11th, I was having pain in the back of my calves.  Dick and I headed to the Emergency Room at Presby Plano at the recommendation of a doctor I work with at the Temple and my doctor. I love my shiny shoes Tatia sent me.
Sure enough, after an ultra sound and a chest x-ray, where you get to look at this awesome aquaarium on the ceiling, did they discover them in my right leg and a few that had scooted up to my lungs.
They installed a sweet IV and started running Heparin, a blood thinner into my body.  I also got a sweet shot in my tummy to get things thinning out.
I was told to STAY in BED, and not get up even for the bathroom.  Hmmmm that was not my favorite.
What was my favorite was the beautiful flowers and snacks that Ricky's family brought and the beautiful Priesthood blessing he and Dick blessed me with. I love when my phone rang early Saturday morning and it was Charlie asking me if I was trying to top his Blood Clot episode that he had last fall.  He had the very scary kind and I'm so glad he is doing much better.  He went for his first run this week and was feeling proud of his leg.  Me too!
The biggest surprise was Pierce, Stacy, Adelaide and Jackson and Mister Squirrel stopping by on their way home to Utah.  Oh what good medicine they are.  I loved the hugs!
Ricky and his girls were also great medicine! I loved seeing them.
When they came to take blood, they were not too impressed with my viens.  Yikes, they made a huge bruise that is just now after two weeks healing up.
Dick was great to stay with me and help me however he could.  Even when I encouraged him to go to work, he wanted to stay with me.  So  kind. I loved the grandkids signing my board in my room.  sweet!
Skyler came a couple of times and brought me my own toothbrush and my mama's robe which makes me feel loved.  It was like having her with me.  I love the decorating on the mirror too.

Sunday, August 13th  was my best when the doctor said the blood thinners were working and I was at a safe level to back my bags and head for home.

Hospital rooms are pretty chilly, but the blankets in the warmer drawer are fabulous.  Dick put his over his head and it reminded me of having a shepherd in my room with me.  Thanks Dick!
Pierce's family treated us to a delicious pizza dinner after we were home from the hospital and
Hawaiian Pizza is a favorite of mine
Even chocolate lava cake for desert!

Sharon &Lujean, Mexican meatball soup and Mexican Chocolate Cake and Peaches

Ryan & Sara and Baby Sloane made us Zillions of Zitti, and Rosemary bread YUM

Linda brought a delicious Salmon dinner

Cindy stopped by with chick filA lunch

Lani and Sky brought Panda Express so good

Pierce and Stacy had Dominoes bring us a feast

Ricky and Becky sent Canes chicken dinner.

Oh my, we were spoiled with good food and lots of love.  Thank you!
